Spring 2011 Couture Hair and Makeup Trends

At the spring 2011 Paris Haute Couture Week, innovation was the key. New twists on old favorites took makeup from dated to fierce. Winged-tip eyeliner was a favorite amongst Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Yumi Katsura. To keep the look from looking too retro, makeup artists created an intense cat eye by blending the shadow towards the temples. At Chanel makeup artists etched thick diagonal stripes up instead of out of the models’ eyes. Bold lips were also a favorite amongst designers this season, pouts ranged in hues of tangerine, blood red, and purple. Valentino kept things rosey this season, painting models in hues of pink for both cheeks and eyes, and finished the look with a nude glossy lip. A new spin on the smoky eye was also featured during Paris Couture Week. At Basil Soda, models strutted the runway with an ethereal smoky eye, created with shades of smoky blues and purples. Stephan Rolland kept things sexier with heavily lined black kohl eyes, adding silver shimmer to the inner corners for dimension.
