Day One of London Fashion Week

Paul Costelloe kicked the week off with bright colors and many patterns. His female models wore short dresses and red short wigs as his few male models wore plaid, tweed and velvet blazers. Shortly after, Maria Grachvogel models blew the crowd away as they strutted down the runway with dark lipstick, slick buns, and loose-fitted draped dresses and jumpsuits. Jena Theo’s models also wore dark makeup and loose fitted clothes. Their eyes were sprayed black like a mask and their garments were shorter and layered. Caroline Charles models looked like settlers from the 1920s in their top hats, maxi skirts, long, wide-legged pants and suit jackets. The collection consisted of colors such as deep red, black, tan, grey, blue, a few white pieces and a few patterns. But she wasn’t the only designer who decided to reinvent the past. Corrie Nielsen’s 16th century inspired collection was filled with huge ruffled fabric and tiny waists. The garments ranged from ball gowns to capes. Fashion week will continue until the 23rd and will feature shows from designers such as Mulberry, Jaeger London, E. Tautz and Christopher Kane.
