Bollywood's new import Candice Boucher in transparent dress

South African model Candice Boucher, who is making her Bollywood debut in the film Azaan, was an eye-grabber on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival, thanks to her transparent black dress. 

The tall and beautiful model towered above the two males who flanked her -- director Prashant Chadha (left) and actor Sachin Joshi (right). The trio walked the red carpet for the premiere of the Israeli film Hearat Shulayim.

They don’t have to try too hard to look good as the back support of a good number of assistants and stylists is always with them. This week we saw several beautiful Bollywood damsels come out and make style splash. So, we have everyone from Aishwarya Rai (just back from Cannes) to Katrina Kaif, launching a magazine or making public appearances. 

After her Cannes getaway, Aishwarya Rai was clicked in a short yellow dress, showing off her legs when she headed to Mannat in her car to attend Karan Johar’s party. Though we are fans of short dresses and the ladies who don them, we weren’t so impressed to see Mrs. Bachchan in one. But when we saw Katrina Kaif looking effortlessly gorgeous in red dress for the launch of People magazine, it was hard to look away. This time we loved the short dress on the svelte Kat. 

Since the summers are on, hotties like Asin and Genelia D’Souza were snapped looking pretty as peach in stunning summery dresses. We rank them all for you.

Meet Kanishtha Dhankhar, Miss India World 2011

This year’s winner of Pantaloons Femina Miss India World is Kanishtha Dhankhar, a girl from Mumbai, who has already established herself as a popular ramp model. A known face in the modeling circuit, Kanishtha has walked for some of the renowned designers.
Winner of PFMI World 2011 Kanishtha Dhankhar is a known face on ramp. She has walked in many fashion weeks like LFW, WIFW, Couture Week and has modeled for designers like Manish Arora, Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Tarun Tahiliani. Her experience on ramp helped her win the Femina Miss Ramp Model. She was also judged Femina Miss beautiful legs.
Kanishtha is nurturing Bollywood aspirations and she says that she would love to make her debut with either Aamir Khan or Hrithik Roshan. Though in the coming months she has her eys set on winning the Miss World crown.
Though Kanishtha was born in Mumbai, her father Raj Singh Dhankar, while her father who was in the Indian Navy was posted there, the family belongs to Kasni village of Jhajjar district in Haryana.

Sonam and Freida to join Aishwarya Rai at Cannes film festival

Three Indian beauties Aishwarya Rai, Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto will be representing India for cosmetic brand L'Oreal Paris at the Cannes film festival this year.
The three beauties however will not be seen walking the red carpet together. Aishwarya, is scheduled to walk the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the 64th Cannes International Film Festival on May 11. Sonam, will walk the red carpet on May 15, and Freida will represent L'Oreal at the amfAR (The American Foundation for AIDS Research) dinner and after-party on May 19.
For Aishwarya Rai, this year will mark her 10th consecutive appearance at Cannes, while it will mark the first for Sonam Kapoor. Besides these three beauties, Mallika Sherawat has been a regular at Cannes and last year it was Deepika Padukone, who like a true Indian diva, dazzled on the red carpet at Cannes.
Aishwarya will also attend the opening gala cocktail and dinner, and various events on the second day of the festival. "Being at Cannes for L'Oreal Paris has been an absolute pleasure and to experience this for the 10th consecutive year has been quite overwhelming," she said.
Aishwarya for her part is glad that India is finally getting the recognition and has more than one L'Oreal Paris spokeswoman at Cannes. "Several countries have always had more than one L'Oreal Paris spokeswoman at Cannes and I'm glad India is finally getting the same recognition. I am happy that with Sonam and Freida, both beautiful women, being invited to the festival this year, India will have a stronger presence, which is a clear sign of the growing importance of the country," Ash said in a statement.
L'Oreal Paris has been the official make-up artist of the festival for 14 years, and while Ash has been a regular, this is the first year Freida and Sonam will represent it at Cannes.
Sonam Kapoor is very excited about the upcoming trip to Cannes, admitting that, “It has always been my dream to walk the red carpet at Cannes and it is soon going to be a reality,” adding that “she is looking forward to meeting actors and filmmakers from the world over and attending screenings of some interesting films.” Sonam is most excited about seeing how the L'Oreal Paris international dream team of make-up artistes is going to transform her for the event.
Freida Pinto for her part is most excited because she is also getting an opportunity to lend her support to an important women’s related cause, as she will be representing L'Oreal at the amfAR (The American Foundation for AIDS Research) dinner and after-party.

Aishwarya Rai to launch a fashion line?

Often labeled as the most beautiful woman in the world Aishwarya Rai is a trend setter! Over the years Aishwarya has flaunted her saris and gowns at the grandest of events the world over and now there is word that she wants to launch her signature fashion line.
As reported, Aishwarya has been approached by fashion houses to be the face of their brand and Ash has not been too keen on the idea. Now, several international designers are interested in partnering with her to create a signature fashion line.
It is still unclear if Ash will create her own fashion line or partner with an international designer, she does want the line to have a global appeal. Reveals a source, “she is keen to launch her exclusive fashion line that will travel globally. Whether it will it be prêt or haute couture, or Indian or Western is still up in the air." [via TOI]
From acting in Bollywood movies to a few Hollywood ones, appearing in advertisements for the biggest brands and walking on Red carpets at the biggest events, to say that Aishwarya has been ‘busy’ is an understatement. A signature fashion line may just be the next big thing for her, but as she explains "I've wanted to do this for a decade, but I had put my plans on a backburner, and now I better get my act together. I always want to give my hundred per cent and more to everything that I do. There was so much happening around me that I had kept it on hold." [via TOI]
Next up for Aishwarya is a visit to Cannes, where she will be walking the red carpet for the 10th straight year. It is not yet clear if hubby Abhishek will join her at Cannes as he is in Russia shooting for Players. However, there will be a trifecta of Indian beauties at the festival as Frieda Pinto and Sonam Kapoor will also make their appearances for L’Oreal Paris.

The damsel who is the new face of Barbie dolls is seen posing like a subtle seductress on the cover of the May issue of Vogue India magazine. Katrina Kaif hots up the summer with her femme fatale makeover.
The lady flaunts her slimmer figure in the black Bordelle bodice wrap corset, black shorts with thigh suspenders and a translucent, gauzy skirt.
The magazine is the special makeover issue and quite rightly highlights Katrina’s transition from a cutesy girl to a siren. Her tousled hair and an arm akimbo lend an extra verve to the cover.
Talking about Katrina’s reinvention, Anaita Shroff Adajania, Fashion Director of Vogue India, said: “Katrina best exemplifies the makeover theme. The idea for the shoot was to bring out the rawness to her sensuality. It's a side of her that has been unseen. At the shoot, she willingly experimented and transformed into a sultry siren. We love this side of her and we love her reinvention!”

Deepika Padukone sees red but not literally. The lady was spotted at two different events but in the outfits of same colour. If for the launch of the movie Rana she donned a sari, she went for a glamorous gown at India’s Most Desirables show.
The award season is over, and that also means no red carpet or lavish filmy parties, and in this heat our hot celebs have also decided to take their styling issues a bit lightly. Yet we were hoping to see our favourite Bollywood babes strutting their stuffs in best togs or saris. And when we saw Deepika Padukone last week at the launch of Rana, there was a sense of relief. The lady was seen in a simple red sari designed by Neeta Lulla, but we can’t stop raving about her ravishing appearance.
Deepika Padukone attended the mahurat and the press release of her first multilingual film Rana with superstar Rajinikanth, K S Ravikumar, Soundarya Rajinikanth, Ramesh Kanna and other members of the cast and crew. Deepika chose to keep it simple by teaming her brocade blouse which had zari work with a less-adorned plain red sari. Her simple make-up and expressive eyes did the trick, and voila, though traditional she made red look saucy.

Freida Pinto’s gown with necktie is making waves

Those who were unaware of the quirky side of Freida Pinto got a chance see that at MET Ball event. The picture-perfect Indian actress walked the red carpet at the event in a dress that left many awestruck. Freida wore a sensuous Chanel white satin dress which also had a necktie.
Critics, bloggers, fashionistas took the internet by storm, but most of them loved Freida’s style sense and also her spirit to carry off a risqué gown. But what if she had decided to play safe and wore some boring evening gown. We would have not known that this dazzling lady can make a kitschy design look so wonderful.
Her fuller red lips and sideway hair-do can remind anyone of the vintage charm, the golden era of the delicate beauties, but then there is diamond-encrusted collar which is a part of the gown, and that long sleek black tie giving a strong impression that she is a modern-day woman who is self assured and confident. The chunky watch and the Dana Davis Primrose heels in black were just too perfect.
Indian designers have given Freida’s style statement thumbs up, but some of the top fashion bloggers feel that the dress was ‘horribly wrong’. India’s fashion blog High Heel Confidential writes that the dress was bit of a letdown, and ‘so anti-climatic’.
But these words of criticism have no effect on Freida’s fans and fashion lovers who think that she was just awesome at MET Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and that she rocks in this dress.

Katrina dressed in pink gown unveiled the doll in Mumbai and gave away some of the exclusive dolls to the young girls at the event.
The one-of-its-kind doll shows Katrina in the designer outfit by Nishka Lulla worn by Katrina on the runway when she had walked the ramp as a real-life Barbie for the ‘Barbie All Doll’d Up’ show two years ago.
Katrina is super excited at the launch of a Barbie inspired by herself, "I am thrilled and excited at having the 'I Can Be a Movie Star' Barbie Doll inspired by me. It is almost unbelievable, that a doll that I grew up playing with is one day going to take after me, seem like me,” said Katrina
As Katrina explains, this is not just another doll, this is a Barbie; she is one of the most popular characters in the world who is a fashionista and has a flourishing career adding that “It is an absolute honour to be associated with Barbie."

Kalki Koechlin is beautiful as Indian bride

Kalki Koechlin is back to work, sidetracking even her honeymoon. Though it wasn’t a big, fat wedding for the lovely Kalki Koechlin, who after two years of courtship married director Anurag Kashyap on April 30, she was happy to wed simply, sans all pomp and ostentation.
Since it was Anurag’s second wedding he left everything to Kalki and she decided to wed in a South Indian style, that too under a mango tree. Kalki likes the beauty and simplicity of South Indian marriages and Ooty is also her hometown. The marriage took place in Kalhatty on the outskirts of Ooty, where Kalki’s French parents have been living since 30 years. For the wedding she wore a white and red kanjeevaram silk saree and also the traditional gajra.
But for the evening party, Kalki chose to wear a colorful mango, fuchsia and orange lehenga, and pink choli with lots of gota work, designed by Mumbai designer Laila Motwane. Kalki kept the look simple by accessorizing it with simple yellow gold jewellery.
As for now she is busy promoting Shaitan, which is produced by her husband Anurag Kashyap, and will soon leave for Israel. Honeymoon can wait for the couple.

In the interview Yana talks about a slew of topics, from not being a very outdoorsy person to her first item song ‘Babuji Dheere Chalo’ being a trailblazer for the item fad.

Sonam Kapoor goes desi for Cannes Film Festival

Last year she couldn’t make it to the Cannes Film Festival, but this year Sonam Kapoor is all set to turn heads on the red carpet when she will walk for the cosmetic giant L’Oreal. No wonder fans are expecting a lot but the question remains what is she going to wear at Cannes?
Sonam Kapoor, who is still very busy with her film Mausam, admits that she hasn’t been able to find time to sit and ponder on her red carpet ensemble. Cannes is obviously special because this is her first international appearance. So, who is taking care of her wardrobe for the film festival?
While talking to a daily, the actress reveals, “I have been so busy that my sister Rhea is getting my wardrobe ready. I only know there are two Indian designers who are making Indian wear for me. But on that day, I will wear the one which I will be comfortable in.”
Yes, she will showcase an Indian design at the red carpet but along with it she also has L’Oreal’s Lor Lor Look -- a sun-kissed make-up look -- to flaunt on the red carpet on May 15. The actress will leave for Cannes on May 13, and will join the beauties like Aishwarya Rai, Gwen Stefani and Eva Longoria, all brand ambassadresses for L’Oreal.

She is yet to sign her first film, but then too the popularity of the Kingfisher model Angela Johnson, touted to be Ranbir Kapoor’s new arm candy, has made her the new ‘it’ girl of tinsel town. Angela Johnson dreams of being in Bollywood and has seriously taken up acting.

This model is not in a hurry and would first like to prepare for her Bollywood career. It was last year only when she won the Kingfisher calendar girl hunt, and wowed everyone with her bikini shots. Her cosmopolitan face makes her look different from the rest. Angela’s mother hails from Mangalore while her father is from Iceland. The girl has trouble speaking Hindi, but that hasn’t deterred her from entering Bollywood.
“I am very interested in Bollywood. But I don’t want to jump into it unprepared. I am undergoing Hindi diction and acting training to make a solid debut,” the model is quoted as saying. We appreciate that she has realized the importance of Hindi and decided to learn it properly unlike other hotties who still struggle to get their pronunciation right.
Of late Angela was spotted with the heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor at the various hotspots of the maximum city, and that made her a household name. Ask her about Ranbir and she smartly dodges the question, saying she would rather not comment because it’s very ‘personal’.

Aishwarya Rai is stunningly beautiful on Cannes red carpet

The 64th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has taken off in French Riviera and grabbing the eyeballs on the red carpet is India’s very own Aishwarya Rai.

At the opening ceremony of the festival at Palais De Festivals, Aishwarya walked the red carpet alone. She looked dazzling in a white-coloured, one-shouldered Elie Saab outfit that had the heavy hemline scraping the red carpet. The dress with a slight train enhanced Ash’s vital stats and that silvery, cylindrical Jimmy Choo clutch was a perfect match.
The second day saw the stunning Indian diva, walk the red carpet at theSleeping Beauty premiere. The icy gown in white and blue by Armani may have a cool effect on others, but the beautiful Aishwarya Rai made it look hot on the red carpet.
Unlike her first day at the festival for which she had gone for a vintage, much feminine and softer look, Aishwarya experimented with the sharp, clean lines, the strapless gown was more contemporary in silhouette and Aishwarya got it right with perfect choice of accessories. She completed her look with a bold, big watch which looked more like a cuff, and a clutch in steel tone.
Yes she tried to get little edgy with élan, and everyone is going gaga over her look, it was a welcome change. One of the popular international fashion blogs, Red Carpet Fashion Awards, has given Aishwarya the title of Cannes Queen for 2011.
Aishwarya has been a regular Indian face at Cannes for a decade now. Every year she represents an international cosmetic brand at the fest. She’s also been promoting her movies. Her fashion choices at Cannes have often come under criticism from fashion pundits back home, but Ash has by and large ignored her detractors and done her own thing.

Sonam Kapoor sure has an eye for fashion. On her maiden appearance on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, the lady looked stunningly gorgeous in a dress that seemed tailor-made for her. 
For the premiere of the film ‘The Artist’, Sonam sashayed down the red carpet in Jean Paul Gaultier couture and Ferragamo shoes. The lady caused a flutter among the paparazzi with her jaw-dropping dress. In accessories, Sonam opted for Chopard earrings and Amrapali ring. 
Sonam is part of the dream team of the international cosmetic brand L’Oreal at Cannes. She was also supposed to attend the festival last year, but could not for reasons still not clear. This year, however, she has managed to make an impressive debut at the fest. She was every bit an eye-catcher on the red carpet. Particularly impressive was the dress with geometrical patterns.
